Biography
Eli Gray Nations hails from DePauw University, after graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2023. He graduated with a major in Creative Writing, a minor in Theatre, and a successful career in the Honors Program. During his time at DePauw, he completed two different theses for his programs and published two pieces of short fiction, which may be found either in the University’s library or on this website. After pursuing a T2T license from Ball State University, he currently resides in Pendleton, Indiana.
Eli is both a writer and an editor in fiction, ranging from short to full-length novels. He has edited 14 different theses during his time at DePauw, all Honors written, and is currently in the process of editing a young-adult novel. His works lean towards horror in subject, often reflecting the world through Lovecraftian lenses or delving into medieval psychology. On the latter subject, Eli is currently in the process of self-publishing a table-top roleplaying Zine, which he hopes to have completed by the end of 2026.
The study of alchemy is that of the Magnum Opus, the “Great Work.” More than just the transmutation of metals, the goal of alchemy is that of progress, of turning what is base and lowly into works of art. All storytelling, in a way, is alchemy: words are granted meaning, drafted into different forms until they gain permeance in one’s mind, altering the reader forever. In this sense, Eli is pursuing “Citrinitas,” the beginning stage of alchemy, the enlightening of the soul to endless possibility. And as every story is meant to be read and understood, Eli seeks to aim his partnership with you. Be is voicing the story, drafting one entirely, or tweaking each sentence to form the perfect outcome, Eli is waiting and willing to lend his expertise to your project. Let the world read what greats works may be brought into the world with his aid.
